This is an antique Navajo saddle blanket, fresh from an old estate.
This is a rare saddle pound blanket, which was made during a very narrow time period.
The Indians would take their weaving's around to pawn shop owners and get their offers... sell to the highest buyer.
The pawn shop owners did not like offerding against each other, so they decided to get together to get rid of the competition.
They informed the Indians that from then on, they would be buying their weaving's by the pound.
The Indians were not stupid, and started making a very different looking blanket.
Rather than spining fine thin wool, and weaving complicated patterns, they spun the wool into thick cords, and made heavier thicker blankets and rugs.
Needless to say, the pawn brokers were not happy, and their plan to eliminate the competition was a failure.
Soon the Indians were back to making their traditional blankets, and the pawn brokers had to pay the highest price to purchase the rugs and blankets they needed to satisfy demand.ITEM MEASUREMENTS
This saddle blanket measures about 28 1/2" high by 28 1/2" wide.

This is in good condition, but needs cleaning.

I will be sending your item from San Diego, California 92116 USA.
I normally send most items, which can be packed in a box measuring up to 12 x 12 x 9, by USPS Priority Mail with full value insurance, and delivery confirmation.
Larger items are usually sent by ground service.
I can take very large and heavy items to Greyhound, which can ship larger items fast and economically, but you will need to pick it up at your local Greyhound Package Express station. Package Express services are not available at all greyhound bus stations, so you do need to find out where your nearest Greyhound Package Express station is located. I do charge $20 to take large items downtown to our mail Greyhound station, to cover the fuel, and time required to do this.
If you want your item shipped by another method, please email me with special instructions.
Please note that all shipping cost estimates are just that...estimates, as the item is not actually packed until it has been sold, and it's destination is known.
Our shipping cost estimates are normally accurate, but, it may cost more to ship your item than we had thought. If this happens, you will be responsible to pay the additional shipping costs, and we will provide you with proof of the additional shipping costs upon request.
If we discover that we have over charged you on shipping costs, we will refund the difference.
PACKING AND HANDLING CHARGES
As you know, shipping costs have been increasing these days. I don't attempt to make money on packing and shipping, but I do want to break even on providing these services.
I do charge a minimum of $2, with the cost increasing depending on the size of the box, and materials required to pack the item properly.
The larger and more fragile an item, the more it costs me to pack it properly. If an item is fragile, I pack it to survive the shipping according to the accepted standards required by the shipper, and also to the best of my ability.
On expensive fragile items, we may need to double box them. This will require additional labor and material costs. I would rather pack your item properly to make sure that the item arrives intact, rather than to deal with a claim.
I care about the survival of the items I sell on , and I want them to arrive in the same condition as when sent.
In compliance with guidelines, we will now be requiring a signature confirmation on domestic shipping, and a return receipt with international shipping. These cost an extra $2.20. Also, insurance is not determined and added into the cost until after purchase.
EVERY ITEM IS GUARANTEED TO BE AS DESCRIBED
Every item I offer is guaranteed to be in as described condition, as written in my listings.
I sell mostly antiques and collectibles, which will usually have the normal wear that you would expect to occur from normal use and age.
You are guaranteed that there are no repairs, alterations, or damage, unless I specifically mention them in my condition report above.

I do my very best to accurately represent each and every item I sell. I do not sell fakes or reproductions of any kind, unless they are clearly described as such.
I guarantee every item I sell to be authentic, and to be made in the time period as represented.
I have been buying and selling all types of items since the late 1960's so I usually spot reproductions, fakes and alterations to items with ease.
I welcome input from dealers and collectors in specialized areas, to help insure my listings are complete and accurate.
RECEIVING YOUR INVOICE
If you are the winning buyer, I will send you an invoice with the total cost, including: packing labor, materials, shipping costs, insurance, and any additional related costs. If the listing ends over the weekend, you will normally receive an invoice on Monday.
A note about insurance: Cost of insurance varies from item to item, often dependent on the location the item is shipping to. Cost of insurance may increase based on item shipped. Please note that your invoice total may not include these insurance costs.

CALIFORNIA STATE SALES TAX
All California residents must pay 8.25% sales tax based on the city you live in If you have a California resale number, you will need to provide a xerox copy with your payment, or include the tax due. I am sorry, but there are no exceptions, as this is the law.
PAYMENT FOR ITEMS
I expect payment to be madewithin3 days from the date of your invoice.
SHIPPING OF ITEMS
I do shipping at least once a week, and more often if possible.
As you know, is making some shipping policy changes which we will be required to follow as they are implemented.
If the item is large or heavy it can be shipped using UPS or Greyhound bus lines, but you would need to pick up the item at your local Greyhound bus station which has package express services available.
SHIPPING COST SAVINGS
If you plan on offerding on multiple items, I will hold your item here until the end of the upcoming sale so I can ship both items together.
I will pass on 100% of the savings to you, in the form of reduced shipping costs, which will show on the invoice for the additional item.
PAYMENTS ON EXPENSIVE ITEMS
If you need some time to pay for an expensive item, you must email me for approval prior to offerding.
With prior approval, I will consider a payment plan, as long as the transaction is completed in a time frame which conforms to 's new policy.
I enjoy leaving you great response as soon as our transaction is complete to let everyone on know you do business in a responsible way.
REFUNDS & DAMAGED ITEMS
Refunds: If I misrepresent an item, such that it is worth less money due to an omission or error in my listing, you may return it for a full refund including all shipping costs, so you do not lose a dime. An example of this would be undisclosed existing damage, like a chip or crack. If the item description is in error, but it has no effect on it's monetary value, I may refuse to allow a refund. An example would be if the measurements were slightly off… if I state a vase is 10 1/2 inches tall, and you discover it is 10 3/8 tall, a refund would likely not be granted.
Damaged Items: If your item is damaged in shipping, the shipper is responsible, but we will assist you with the claim process. You will need to save the box and packing materials to show the shipper. This is the proof that they require, so if you discard the packing materials, your claim may be denied. Shippers do not accept parcels packed in damaged boxes as a rule, so damage is normally evidenced by damage to the box.
