Antonio Pineda Design Vtg Taxco Mexico Mexican Sterling Silver Cut Work Bracelet For Sale
ANTONIO PINEDA DESIGN VTG TAXCO MEXICO MEXICAN STERLING SILVER CUT WORK BRACELET Description
This was hand wrought inTaxco, Mexico, after 1948, by a silver artist who signed theirpieces "JVL". This necklace is masterfully crafted in an elegantmodernist motif that was originated by world renowned silver maestro, Antonio Pineda (1919-2009) ~ this design is RARELY SEEN! The hallmarks on thisbracelet are "JVL TAXCO"in a circle, "STERLING" and "Eagle assay 208". I have seen this same bracelet with the identical marks that were co-marked with the Antonio Taxco crown mark, although this bracelet does not have the Antonio Taxco crown mark. According to Gobi Stromberg in her book "Silver Seduction: The Art of Mexican Modernist Antonio Pineda", when the demand grewfor Taxco silver jewelry, large silver tallers employed master silversmiths who would execute the designs allowing Antonio Pineda to concentrate on just designing. These maestros would mark their work with their own hallmarks, in addition to Antonio's. This "JVL TAXCO" mark, along with the Eagle assay 208 is documented in the same book on page 127, photo 149. In addition, Bille Hougart lists the Eagle assay 208 as being used exclusively by Antonio Pineda.Antonio Pinedais considered one of the finest designers/artists to emerge from the Mexican Silver Renaissance. As a young boy, he worked for Maestro William Spratling at Taller de Las Delicias. He left Spratling and formed his own workshop in 1941.His art-to-wear jewelry is coveted by collectors worldwide. Maestro Antonio Pineda sadly passed away in 2009 and the world lost a legendary designer and artisan. This bracelet is quite bold, weighing in at 119.5 grams. It consists of ten trapezoide shaped silver links that have biomorphic incised silver designs. Each one of the designs is different ~ and, the interior side of the links also have biomorphic incised silver designs and each one of them is also different! The cut work silver designs have beautiful flow and movement! The links are pin hinged internally which gives the bracelet beautiful, uninterrupted design flow. The clasp is a tongue and box closure that works perfectly and closes with a crisp 'click' ~ there is an attached safety chain. The silver has acquired a wonderful, soft patina that reflects the shadows created by the depth of the designs. Thisbracelet is extremely well made and crafted ina unique, artisticANTONIO PINEDA design, an art-to-wear masterpiece that is sure to be NOTICED and ADMIRED! ~ it is heirloom, collector and museum quality ~ quite simply, THE BEST!!!
SIZE: Inside circumference is 7", width is 1", and weight is119.5 grams.

PLEASE NOTE: For Mexican jewelry artists and designers, silver is their canvas. In their hands, craft meets creativity and silver becomes wearable art. The various techniques are like a painter’s brushstrokes ~ they make each piece unique and a timeless object of beauty. Mexican vintage silver jewelry is handwrought, and therefore, not perfect ~ each piece will have variances that indicate that the piece is hand made. Vintage pieces will show various signs of wear since they have been pre-loved ~ items are described to the best of my ability and any damage will be noted.
