A FELLOW E BAYER HAS GIVEN ME THE INFORMATION BELOW ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THE MAKERS OF THIS BROOCH AND I THOUGH I WOULD LET THE PROSPECTIVE BUYER READ THIS ALSO
There's a photo of a similar style brooch in "Baubles, Buttons and Beads the heritage of Bohemia" Sybille Jargsdorf. It was made by Max and Norbert Neiger's company. In the 20s and 30s, their jewels were held in high regard for daring design and high quality. Other makers tried to copy but often couldn't reach their standards. The Neiger brothers were jewish and when their region became part of the Reich in 1938 they escaped into Czech held land. They carried on their jewellery manufacture as best they could but had to cut down production. They were living on borrowed time. The Nazis caught up with them. In 1942 they were arrested in Prague and put on a transport to Auschwitz. They were selected for the gas chambers as soon as they arrived and had no chance of survival.
