ART DECO Solid Silver LARGE MUSTARD POT 1955 Hallmarked Sterling Birmingham NR
150 Year Coleman's - Blue Glass Liner - 3+ troy oz.
This is a superb ART DECOsolid sterling silver mustard pot with a hinged lid, squat finial anda Bristol blue glass liner which was made in Birmingham, England in 1955 by the illustrious silversmiths and cutlers, Barker Brothers Silversmiths at their Constitution Hill workshops. It iscircular in shape, is raised on a skirt base, has a gorgeous handle and a decorated lid in an ART DECO design. It measures2 3/8" high by 2 3/8" in diameter and is3 1/8" long including the handle. The mustard pot is engraved with 1804 J&J COLEMAN 1954 - to commemorate 150 years of Coleman's Mustard. The quality of this mustard pot shows in the weight -101.8 grams(without the liner) which isover3 1/4troy oz.
It is in very good condition with just the usual surface scratching with NO distortion, NO dents, NO dingsand NO play to the hinge!!! - SUPERB.The glass liner is clearly original with nocracks or repairs or chips. The pot is hallmarked B.B over S.Ld, anchor, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark),Fshowing that it was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1955.I have shown the main hallmark so that you can make up your own mind. A delightful ART DECO addition to someone's table or collection afteralmost 70 years. Postage will be 4.50GBP both within the UK and to international destinations.
