Art Nouveau Kralik Glass Inkwell On Brass Fretted Base Jugendstil Secessionist:
A attractive Bohemian Art Nouveau - Secessionist Kralik round green iridescent inkwell with a brass lid mounted on a brass fretted stand. The glass inkwell is in excellent condition without chips or scratches. The fretted brass stand which is designed on the front with a well to hold pens & pencils and two pegs on top for a pen. It
.is also in excellent condition, I have not polished the stand as people differ on how bright they want an antique to be, and have left this choice for the buyer.
The inkwell is designed with a round brass base, with two pins on either side that are designed to keep the inkwell secure when placed on the stand. Inside the lid of the inkwell are two sets of initials K.K.OEST PAT. A, is a pre WWI patent application for the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The D.G.M.A. initials also on the lid are for a German patent, these markings shows that the inkwell was produced some time before the First World War during the Art Nouveau period. These lids can be found on the internet on various Kralik inkwells.
Size :The inkwell is 3" (7.5 cm) tall and 2 3/4" (6.5cm) in diameter. The stand is 6 1/4" (16 cm) across and 2" (5 cm) tall.
