Arts And Crafts Sterling Silver Jam Preserve Spoons 1922 Scottish Retailer:
A very pretty cased set of jam / preserve spoons. Unusually although absolutely identical one is hallmarked for Sheffield 1921 the other 1922, one by the Cooper Brothers the other by Mappin and Webb. I suspect Mappin and Webb we using the Cooper Brothers to produce pieces for them when productivity was high. They come complete with their retail case which reads ‘Weybeck and Sons Silversmiths Jewellers Dundee’. They have a beautiful Arts and Crafts design having broad bowls and trefid terminals. They are both in super condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs. The blue velvet and silk lined case is equally in nice condition being free from tears stains and repairs. The hinges are strong and the catch works well. The exterior is free from scuffs stains etc… They measure a touch over 5.5 inches (13cms) long and have a combined weight of 25 grams. A nice clean beautiful set.
