A Lustrous ALMOST UNCIRCULATED example 1809 Spanish Gold 8 Escudos Doubloon of King Ferdinand VII. This coin was minted at the Spanish Colonial mint of Santa Fe de Bogota. Spanish gold and silver coins were accepted as specie in transactions in the United States until Congress demonetised foreign currency in 1857.This coin contains 0.7616Fine Troy Oz. of gold. With gold at $1,422 an ounce, the coin contains $1,083 in gold bullion alone.
