This is a Decorative and Useful Claret Jug or Port Decanter
This is an exceptionally fine quality crystal Claret Jug or Port Decanter made in Prague, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, prior to 1914.
The lid, collar and handle are made in hallmarked 800/1000 silver.
The Claret Jug features stunningly lean lines, with an elegant Art Nouveau style handle and the lid has a round ball finial.
A traditional star burst design is cut into the bottom of the Decanter.
The Claret Jug is over all in excellent condition with only one chip on the bottom rim, not obvious in use or on display.

This is a fine Claret Jug, exhibiting top quality workmanship.
The Decanter is 9 inches tall (9 ins / 23. cms) and three and three quarter inches in diameter (3.75 ins/ 9.5 cms).
The marks shown above are the maker’s mark “A.P”, “Diana’s head” with the number 3 for 800/1000 fineness and with the town identification letter “c” for Prague. There is a double eagle mark of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
The correct partial marks also appear on the inside of the lid.
