GLASS CUTTER / PATTERN NAME: Both the glass cutter and pattern name are unknown to me. This piece has the look and high quality of some of the finest American Brilliant Period cut glass that was made in the early 1900's. On page 104 of Pearson's Volume #3 book is a tray that has the same interior cutting as my bowl, but it doesn't have the outer notched prism cutting and pointed teeth like my bowl does. If I had to make a single educated guess as to its maker, it would be Libbey. Libbey used several of the same cutting traits in their patterns that were done on this bowl.

BLACK LIGHT TEST RESULTS: Confirms American Brilliant Period (approximately 1876-1916)

MEASUREMENTS: 10" in diameter and 2-3/4" high.

WEIGHT / RING: It weighs 4-1/4 pounds and has a beautiful long lasting ring when tapped.

BLANK / GLASS CLARITY: Blown / Bright and clear.

CUTTING DETAILS: This cutting is among the very best that is out there. The main miters are extra deep and the overall precision is superb. The double miter cane bars, flat stars, and hobstar centers are cut super finely. The notched prism outer boarder adds plenty of sparkle to an already flashy interior. The large crossed ovals in the pattern actually create intersecting hearts if you look at the interior carefully.

POLISHING QUALITY: The finish looks and feels super crisp.

CONDITION REPORT (ALWAYS VERY PICKY): The teeth have probably had a few minor touchups over the years, but nothing jumps out at you. My picky eyes spotted a few very minor extra bevels and a couple of pencil point or less sized nicks on them. Hiding in the pattern area are a few scattered nicks that aren't much larger than pencil point in size, but nothing of any easily noticed size at all. The center button on the center hobstar has some extra bevels on its side that are probably from touchups at one time. The bottom shows minimal wear and the top interior the same.

FINAL COMMENTS: I've sold many great bowls over the years and this one could easily make it into my top 10. I hope my pictures can show you how truly outstanding this bowl really is. In a lighted cabinet its brilliance is amazing. I guarantee that the new owner will be very proud to own this awesome bowl!

offerDING FORMAT: There is with a $9 starting price. This is my favorite way to sell even high-priced items. I will never under any conditions end my sales early to sell to an anxious buyer requesting a buy it now.

SHIPPING & INSURANCE: A flat rate for shipping with insurance included by USPS Parcel Select (formerly called Parcel Post) to anywhere in the U.S.A. will be $15. This method may take longer, but should save money for both of us. I don't ship my cut glass outside of the U.S.A. Please don't ask me to make an exception just for you. I will gladly combine multiple purchases at a reduced rate based on the buyer's location.

I am a member of the American Cut Glass Association. I subscribe to the ACGA Code of Ethics. I regularly buy quality cut glass and I hope to have plenty more to offer in my future items. I'm very much into cut glass, but I'm not your typical cut glass collector and dealer. I prefer to enjoy this glass for short periods of time and everything that I buy will eventually be sold. Because of this strategy I'm able to sell even the most desirable and rare pieces that I can find and not keep them for myself. Many serious cut glass collectors have benefited because of this and I also hope to keep the casual or beginner buyers happy with some desirable cut glass also. Please check out my other current listings and bookmark my site or add me to your favorite sellers.

RETURN POLICY: Please offer with confidence, your satisfaction is always guaranteed. I offer a 14-day return privilege. If you are unsatisfied or if you feel the item was misrepresented, it may be returned provided the item is in original condition. If the return is the result of an error on my part, I will refund the shipping & insurance costs also. For questions please use the "Ask seller a question" link in the sale or you can phone me at 412-486-9727 during reasonable Eastern Standard Time hours.

Payment

SALES TAX: Pennsylvania residents without a valid resale tax number are asked to please add 7% sales tax (6% PA. & 1% for Allegheny County) to your final purchase price when checking out. There will be no exceptions to this tax if you live in Pennsylvania and do not supply a valid resale number.

I accept the following forms of payment:
  • PayPal

Shipping & Handling

I will try my best to send out items within 24 hours of receiving payment. If this is not possible I will inform the buyer of the intended shipping date. Shipping including insurance is given as a flat rate to anywhere in the U.S.A. Depending on the buyers location and size of the box, I will use at my discretion either USPS Priority Mail or USPS Parcel Post. If by some chance my flat rate amount is larger than the actual cost, I will refund the difference. I do not charge for packing materials & handling. I pack all items very carefully to ensure a safe arrival.
