Abraham Lincoln & Hannibal Hamlin Presidential Campaign Ribbon 1860 Election:
Once again I have the honor to list a piece of Historical Memorabilia of our greatest president, Abraham Lincoln. You will be offerding on an 1860 Campaign Ribbon for the ticket of Abraham Lincoln and Hannibal Hamlin. I haven't seen this ribbon before and cannot find it on the internet. If anyone can give me more information please send me a message. As you can see the ribbon is black on white background. The ribbon shows a profile of a beardless Lincoln (as it should be, because Lincoln didn't start growing a beard until after he was elected president). This is more than likely a silk ribbon. It is slightly discolored with a couple of stains. The top of the ribbon is slightly frayed. The bottom portion is partly missing. A previous owner placed it on an old envelope that had a piece of cardboard in it for support. It is covered with a transparent covering that was stapled to the envelope. None of the staples go through the ribbon and the ribbon is not attached in any way to the envelope. Who knows how many years it has been like this (the writing on the back of the envelope was written with a fountain pen not a ball point). On the back side of the envelope is what a previous owner said was the last paragraph of the ribbon with some mistakes. It should say Huzza, boys for Lincoln and Hamlin. Huzza was a word that meant triumph or encouragement. Similar words today are hurrah or hurray. If you have any questions or need more pictures please send me a message. The $35.00 shipping charge includes insurance. Please do not pay until I send you an invoice. I will only charge what the Post Office charges me. If the price is below $35.00 I will reduce the shipping charge. If it's over I will not increase it. Check mypositive 100% response. I have many repeat buyers and like to satisfymy customers. Good Luck offerding.
