The photo of the sailing yacht that I posted clearly shows the bow that I have in my possession. If you look at the actual photos of my bow there is no mistaking it. As you know, Shamrock was originally a flat deckJ Class yacht. After her retirement she was fitted into a racer/cruiser yacht configuration. This section was added at that time to make the yacht drier and more comfortable. This section of bow that I purchased at the sale/fundraiser was added either by Lipton after racing it or the Italian owner that protected her during WWIIso her metalwould not bescrapped for the war. The bow section was removed shortly after the Museum of Yachting acquisitioned for her return to a J Class racing configuration. It was at that time that they had a fundraiser and sale where the transom, bow section (which I purchased) were offered. It has been stored ever since. I am considered an expert in America's Cup history and was an advisor to the America's Cup Hall of fame and my credentials speak for themselves. I placed a considerable collection of America's Cup memorabilia and artifacts at the Herreshoff America's Cup Hall of Fame in Bristol, R.I.

This America’s Cup piece of memorabilia is a genuine piece of America’s Cup history. It was acquired during my ownership of two time America’s Cup winner Intrepid from 1989 through 1996.
I purchased my first America’s Cup 12 metre yacht Advance in the early ‘80s after the 1983 historic win by Australia II. Advance was an unsuccessful Australian challenger that year. My next acquisition was Stars & Stripes ’83 and a substantial amount of spares, sails and memorabilia from earlier campaigns through the ’88 catamaran debacle. My third purchase was the classic British challenger Lionheart. Once again I acquired spares, sails etc. with the purchase. In 1989 the crown jewel Intrepid joined my 12 metre collection. Once again the yacht purchase included more spares and sails. In the early 90’s I bought Heart of America’s mast, rigging and spares which included many original parts from Courageous as well as other interesting America’s Cup related items.
Highlights of my passion for the America’s Cup include:
1. Race committee member 1991 America’s Cup Class Worlds in San Diego.
2. Race committee member 1992 America’s Cup San Diego.
3. Race committee member 1995 America’s Cup San Diego.
4. I was a consultant for the Newport leg of the movie Wind in 1991. I also chartered Intrepid (Boomerang) and Stars & Stripes ’83 (Radiance) for use in the movie.
5. I have on loan to the Herreshoff America’s Cup Hall of Fame Museum in Bristol, R.I many and varied artifacts and memorabilia.
6. In 1993 I organized a West Coast tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Intrepid’s 1967 America’s Cup win.
7. Upon her return to Newport for the East Coast leg, a celebration was organized for her America’s Cup ’67 winning crew to once again sail Intrepid with original designer Owen Stevens aboard.
8. Dozens of newspaper articles and sailing periodicals have been written about my various involvements with 12 metre yachting. The highlight can be seen in Maritime Quarterly Volume 2.
