For your consideration is this lovely one of a kind hand carved wooden artist doll. I believe she was called Sonna as the back of her head is marked. Notes found with her said “Sonna” $500.00 15 /100. The markings on the back of her neck look like she was made in 1990 and she is number 15 of an addition limited to 100 made. She doesn’t appear to have been made in the United States. She is about 12 inches tall and her hands are carved in a very expressive pose. She has tiny carved toes. She wears a handmade cotton dress and up close you can see some very minor fading from age. She also has handmade bloomers. Her body is made of off white muslin and she smells clean. She is from a doll collector and was displayed for a short time. I don’t believe she ever had shoes and I have others from this artist and they don’t have shoes either. She has a soft mohair wig with tiny ringlets that frame her face. Her face is wonderfully carved and her facial painting is expertly done. The close up photo of her face has been magnified a lot so the wood grain is more apparent than when you look at her in person. She is just sweet looking and would make an unusual addition to a doll collection. She is affordably priced at a fraction of her original $500.00 suggested selling price!
