Aesthetic Black Transferware Plate - Basket 1880s:
This is one of several listings that I have for English Aesthetic Movement transferware this week, and will continue to list many other pieces over the next several weeks / months.
This striking black transferware plate was manufactured by Old Hall Earthenware, a Staffordshire Pottery in England between 1861 and 1886.
It is in the pattern, "Basket", and features a central image of a basket spilling over with flowers with butterflies on each side. This is surrounded by a fine allover basket weave pattern and encircled with a ring of tiny interlocking leaves. The border is also embellished with the basket weave pattern with an overlay of small flowers.
With the standard manufacturer's stilt marks on the rim and light crazing consistent with a piece of this age, it measures approximately 8¼" in diameter and apart two tiny glaze rubs on the underside rim, it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or understand that shipping costs can be a bit daunting these days! Just so you know, I don't add to the shipping price what it costs me for any cartons and packing material to assure your piece(s) are well packed to arrive safely to you. I have added two shipping options for you to chose from (USPS Priority which is usually a 2-3 days arrival time to you after shipment and USPS Ground, which will take a longer amount of time to arrive but oftentimes costs less.)
I am very happy to combine pieces for significantly reduced shipping costs. If you are the winning buyer on multiple pieces, please wait to send payment until I have packed the pieces and sent an invoice.
