This was the first time that France permitted a facsimile signature of an artist to
be used for its cancel. Artist Signed: by Agam, in his distinctive muti-pen style. Positioned next to postmark Cachets: Printed in multi-color on silk, approx 4.75" square, mounted inside booklet.

Yaacov Agam is an Israeli sculptor and experimental artist, who is best known for his contributions to optical and kinetic art. He was born on May 11, 1928 in Rishon LeZion, Israel to a religious family. Agam trained at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem, before moving to Zürich and finally settling in Paris. His first solo exhibition was at the Galerie Graven in 1953, and in 1955 he established himself as one of the leading pioneers of kinetic art at the Le Mouvement exhibition at the Galerie Denise René, alongside such artists as Jesús Rafael Soto, Carlos Cruz-Díez,
