This is an original, vintage legal document from Wilcox County, Alabama concerning the sale of two women; Eliza a negro woman and Rachel, a girl dated 1845. Sheriff M. M. Bonham and his deputy brought the 2 negroes to be sold to satisfy a debt, as it states ...within the usual hours of sale to expand the sale to the highest buyer...
In researching this document, I found M.M. Bonham (the sheriff???) from Wilcox County--also owned slaves. This document is signed and very, very old. As it was larger than my scanner (at approximately 7 1/2 by 12 1/4 inches in size), I scanned it twice--from top and also from the bottom so it can fully viewed. It has some fold separation, minor edge tears but is complete and fully readable. High buyer See scans.
