Noted at lower left margin to be from: "THE FALL OF AMERICA/Poems of These States (1965-1971)/by Allen Ginsberg". Ginsberg's book, The Fall of America, a collection of his poetry, was published in 1973 and won the National Book Award in 1974. Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997), a Buddhist and critic of materialism, was the "poet laureate" of the 1950s "Beat Generation" and spokesman for the counterculture of the 1960s. His poem "Howl" (1956) was vindicated in an obscenity trial and went on to great popularity. Lightly creased with folds, not at signature. ¼-inch tear at upper left blank edge. Fine condition.
