Please scroll down for photo\'s, description & dimensions.Click on images to enlarge. This is an amazing antique French religious scene cast in spelter and dating from the 19th Century. It is very decorative and would add a stunning architectural touch to a display.It features the Holy family grouped around a beautiful palm tree. The clothes of Mary and Joseph are gilded to show in wonderful detail the draping folds of the cloth. The girdle of Jesus is gilded and he holds a gilded cross. The scene is utterly charming.The base of the piece is as decorative as the figures. It too has gilded highlights and is decorated with acanthus leaf scrolls and cherub\'s faces. It bears the title \'St. FAMILLE.The back of the piece is also gilded and decorated. The gilding contrasts fantastically with the dark grey of the spelter background.The piece is sturdy and substantial. At some stage during it\'s life the palm tree has received a knock and it is now leaning forward a little (see pics). It is stable in this position and it does not detract from the beauty of the piece. It measures :- H 27 cm (10.5 inches) x W 21 cm (8.25 inches) x D 12 cm (4.75 inches).A beautiful religious ensemble to display & enjoy and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
