American Maple New England Ladderback Youth Dining Chair Rush Seat Late 18th C. For Sale
This American maple youth chair was purchased in Maine in 1968 in an antique store. It was appraised in1980 by a certified appraiser for $300. I think the seat is not the original and has been replaced. The seat is woven wood strips. The ends are topped with small acorn finials. This chair measures 36" high. The seat measures 21" from the floor and the foot rest is 6" below the seat and 15" from the floor. This chair is designed to be used at a table and will be good for a child from age 2 to 6 or 7. It has gone through 2 generations of our family children and has served as a lovely plant stand in the interim. It is a solid piece with no loose joints and on occasion our (very thin) 14 year old grandson still sits in it!! Distance between the arms is 12". I could find no legible markings but have included a photo of what could possibly be identifying info on the bottom of the foot rest.
Because of it's size, shipping will be expensive and was estimated to be between $90 and $120. I am listing it as local pick up only but if you have an interest in having it shipped, let me know.
