An Antique Victorian Cold Painted Metal Nodder Nodding Pug Dog Musician Figure:
A cold painted cast metal nodder nodding pug dog musician figure
This item is a great rarity, a small cold and realistically painted cast metal figure of a pug dog playing an accordian.
The most unusual feature of this item is his ability to gently nod his head. These types of figure were very popular as novelties in the Victorian era and were made in metal, ceramic, and other materials.
The head and body of the item are made in two separate parts, with the head having a counterbalance which fits inside the neck of the body part. There is also a small wire which sits on the side of the neck, allowing for the head to move gently.
These nodder pieces are very difficult to come by now, most held in collections or damaged through the years. This one is in very good condition indeed, showing only very light wear to the painted finish. No damage is apparent to his body.
A gentleman who has had a stall in an arcade in the Portobello Market in London specialising in animal figures, informed me that nodders were never made from bronze as the metal was of too heavy a weight for them to be effective.
Don't miss your opportunity to purchase this very cute rarity, to add him to your collection.
He stands 3.5 inches (8.5 cm) in height.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS ITEM IS NOT CAST FROM BRONZE - please see the note above....PLEASE NOTE ALSO|: that I have calculated the postage prices to include extra compensation cover, and via Tracked and Signed services for (hopefully) added piece of mind for both parties.

Please send payment within seven days of sale or listing end, or if you are likely to be away etc. please contact me to let me know. Therefore, if the actual shipping charge should prove to be significantly less, we will refund the difference in postage back to you via Paypal. I will combine postage for multiple items, provided they can be safely packed together.
The Worldwide postage quoted applies to most destinations, however, European countries are often cheaper, so please ask for the postage cost to your European destination if you want further clarification.
NON UK buyers: In theory we are happy to ship most items overseas, but those which are large and/or heavy can be very expensive via UK shipping channels. If you wish to offer from overseas and do not see a postage price for your destination in the listing, please contact us and we will send a shipping estimate. Items are priced for postage by Volumetric Weight: height x width x length.
