Ancient Chinese Tang Dynasty Style Pottery Grazing Horse & Rider For Sale

A large, well provenanced ChineseTang dynasty style horse and rider figure, dating to the 19th Century or earlier.

Thehorse is shown standing four-square on with well defined musculature,pricked ears and dock tail.The tall rider sits upright andholds implements in both hands.

A wonderfully expressive sculpture, which makes an awesome display-piece.

Height: 15 1/4inches.

Length:12inches.

Condition:Restored from fragments. Generally good condition.

Provenance:

Ex collection of Professor Gunther Doeker-Mach, acquired 1980's - 1990's.

Doeker-Mach was a well respected academic and prolific author. He was an authority on human rights as well as international law, teaching at the University of New South Wales. Together with his wife, the eminent activist Alice Tay, they travelled the world acquiring fine art works and antiquities with which they tastefully decorated their home.
