Arare ancientPersian dagger blade, dating to theLateNear EasternBronze Age,approximately 1200 B.C.
The blade is of triangular form withshort,slender blade, fitting into an attractive hilt with crescentic guard.The blade held in place by a singleround rivet.Thehandle would have likely been constructed from bone or wood in antiquity, now long since perished.
Thisweapon would originally formed part of the burial contents of a wealthyPersian Warrior. The Bronze Age Peoples of ancient Persia were a warrior-society who were expert metal-workers. GenuinePersian weapons such as this are some of the best value pieces on today's art market.
