A rare and desirable ancient Roman gold solidus issued by Constantine the Great,(Flavius Valerius Aurelius Constantinus Augustus)in 335 AD, to celebrate the 30th year of his reign.

The obverse with Constantine, shown wearing drapery and cuirass, and an elaborate jeweled diadem, with a large gem stone on the forehead. The legend reading:

CONSTANTINVS MAX AVG

\"Constantine Great Augustus\"

The reversewith the winged goddess Victory, seated on a pile of arms, inscribing a large round shield: VOT XXX, supported by a small winged Genius, who stands in front of her. The legend reading:

VICTORIA CONSTANTINI AVG

\"Victory to Constantine Augustus\"

\"30 Years of Vows\"

Flavius Valerius Aurelius Constantinus, or Constantine the Great, Reigned from 307-337 AD. He is one of the most important rulers in Roman, indeed world history. He was the first Christian Emperor of Rome, reversing earlier persecutory laws and passing the famous Edict of Milan, which allowed for religious tolerance throughout the Empire. Constantine also moved Imperial residence to the Eastern Byzantine province, living in Constantinople throughout the latter half of his reign. His gold coinage is much sought after and seldom found on the private art market.
