Anitique Chinese Imperial 19th Century Robe/ Longpao Silk Brocade-5 Toe Dragons,:
Up for consideration is an Antique Robe from China. It's quite old. Heavy silk with amazing brocade designs. 9 Dragons with 5 toed claws. Deer. Many Buddhist and Taoist designs , There are Ocean waves on the bottom. The main color is a golden tan, with the designs woven in using many color. The inner ling if frayed around the neck. An intersting thing is the maroon/purple under the arms. I read that only high stationed individuals along with the royal could wear this color.Purple was a rare color in Old China. The colors are very subtle. Soft greens, soft blues, soft reddish tans.Very nice cloud patterns. Very intricate design patterns. It must have taken hundreds of hours to weave the material. The cuffs are a beautiful design. The lining is a silvery light blue/green. There is fraying along the bottom edge of the lining. It is approx. 51 inches in length. A rather bell shaped design. Very nice buttons of brass with designs. Shoulder to shoulder approx. 25 inches. The outside shell is quite nice, the lining inside is quite worn. To be worn , a new lining would be a good idea. The out side is quite rich looking !Sleeves are approx 30 inches. This is a museum piece. The shipping is for the continental United States. International shipping through is additional.
