Antique, Ceramic, German Cosmetic Pomade Jar Crock Pot Lid For Sale
You are offerding on an antique, porcelaneous, GERMAN cosmetic "pomade" Jar or "pot lid", which is transfer printed over the glaze & dates to around 1920. Manufactured for the company of "Wolff & Schwindt" based in the city of Karlsruhre on the southern Rhine river. This little lid would have been around at about the time that the Nazi party was forming in the early part of the 20 th century. The lid is in excellent condition....no chips, cracks or repairs. Very often these lids lose their transfer, as they are over the glaze, but this particular one has been very well preserved and the transfer is very sharp and clear. The lid measures 2 1/2" in diameter and the jar stands 1 5/8" tall. The base section is from my supply of spares and although not the original one of the lid, is from more or less the same time period. It is slightly loose fitting, but not a big deal. It does the job of displaying this German lid pretty well. A nice piece for your collection, or an interesting antique to display in some strategic place in your home.FOR VIEWERS WHO MAY NOT BE FAMILIAR WITH THESE
DELIGHTFUL LITTLE JARS....THEY WERE USED BETWEEN APPROX. 1840-1920 TO MARKET
VARIOUS PRODUCTS WHICH CAME IN A PASTE FORM. AFTER WWI THEY BECAME OBSOLETE AS

THEM.THE RECOVERY AND COLLECTING OF THESE OLD PIECES HAS
BECOME A POPULAR, WORLD-WIDE HOBBY, AND A QUAINT REMINDER OF A BYGONE ERA.
