Antique, ceramic, Chemist's Toothpaste Jar Crock Pot Lid For SaleYou are offerding on an antique, ceramic, "The Crown Perfumery" toothpaste container. This lid dates to the 1890's. Both lid and pot are in good condition apart from some light stains/blotches (not much). The lid has fine glaze crazing which is customary for these old pieces. The base section is an excellent fit, although it is heavily crazed and dirt has gotten into the crazing, accentuating it. It actually blends well with the lid zig-zag pattern of the lid....in my opinion. Delightful crown pictorial to the center of the face.....a "royal" connection to the product. The lid measures 2 7/8" in diameter and stands about 1 1/2" tall when lid is in place on the base section. NO cracks, chips or repairs.
Great little piece to add to your collection or as a Victorian bathroom ornament! FOR VIEWERS WHO MAY NOT BE FAMILIAR WITH THESE DELIGHTFUL LITTLE JARS....THEY WERE USED BETWEEN APPROX. 1840-1920 TO MARKET VARIOUS PRODUCTS WHICH CAME IN A PASTE FORM. AFTER WWI THEY BECAME OBSOLETE AS MORE MODERN AND ECONOMICAL FORMS OF PACKAGING REPLACED THEM.THE RECOVERY AND COLLECTING OF THESE OLD PIECES HAS BECOME A POPULAR, WORLD-WIDE HOBBY, AND A QUAINT REMINDER OF A BYGONE ERA. BE ASSURED, YOU ARE offerDING ON A GENUINE AND AUTHENTIC PERIOD PIECE.
