Antique,ceramic,rated Rare, Creme Chrysis Cosmetic Crock Jar Pot Lid For Sale
You are offerding on an antique,ceramic, under-glaze transferred "Creme Chrysis" cosmetic Jar. This jar is rated as "rare" by Dales' reference book on pot lids. The lid has a matching base section which appears to have more crazing than the lid. For some reason, this is sometimes the case. The advertising on the face apparently reads: "For enchanting beauty" ....very cute, old fashioned language! The lid measures 3 1/2" in diameter and stands about 2" tall. As you can see the base section and the bottom of the pot is also transferred. (see pic.4) The base has no issues, and the lid has two old, smallish "fills"....inside flange and a small one on the outside rim. Also has a faint, tight, hairline which seems to only affect the inside part of the lid. For these issues mentioned, please check pics 5-8. The lid is solid and stable and presents very nicely! The jar dates to 1900 making it well over 100 years old. Great for your collection or perhaps you just like displaying beautiful antiques somewhere special in your home!FOR VIEWERS WHO MAY NOT BE FAMILIAR WITH THESE
