Antique 1800's Victorian Push Sleigh Original Vintage New England Child's Sled :
SLEIGHFrom the estate of a gentleman whose grandfather was photographed in the sleigh in 1882.It has never been painted or updated in any way. The original corduroy upholstery is tattered. I purposely left the upholstery alone so that the buyer would be able to copy the original pattern, if desired. It even has the original rug on the floor. All of the oak bentwood in in great condition. The ornate, metal runners still have some of the original gold paint designs. The two bells on the front are original. On the bottom of the sleigh "No. 5" was stenciled by the maker (see photos). Old yarn tassels are attached to silver spires. You would be hard pressed to find another in this completely original condition. It is 52" long from the front of the runners to the handle. The highest part of the handle is 37" off the ground. The handle can be removed by removing six carriage bolts. Without the handle the sleigh is about 40 inches long. The widest part of the runners is 18 1/4" at the rear. Shipping:This is listed as a "pick up only" item. However, if you wish to set something up with UPS, I will deliver (at no charge to you) it to the UPS office on Warwick Avenue, Warwick, Rhode Island Tel. 401-738-4612.
