Marked on the dial \" Le Boutiller & Co, Union Square, New York\". Le Boutiller & Co was a high end retailer/importer of fancy goods for the ultra rich of the Uuion Square area of Manhattan in the Victorian Era. They were close to the original Tiffany\'s, Reed & Barton and other fancy stores. They sold a lot of items but they also specialized in Marbel Clocks from France.
The dial is also red and black marbel and is carved
Clock is dated circa 1880 - 1890
The clock is a mantle clock but is technically called a pedestal clock because it was used as a base for a statue that went on top of it. That is why the clock has a hole drilled in the top - dead center. I have a nice LARGE antique bronze flame finial that I am willing to give to the winning buyer to put in the hole as an unsecuredhole-filler (just sits in the hole - see next to last photo)- just ask for it - see photos.
Red and Black marbel
The front of the clock has a few small chips and flea bites - the worst are is shown in the last photo
The case rear has a few repaired cracks
There are two small diagonally oriented matching holes on both sides thatonly go through the thin top piece of black marble.
There is green felt on the bottom of the clock
French movementis a high quality movement that strikes bell on the hour and half hour - but the movement is not marked.
