Late Victorian or Early 1900\'s Black, Blue And White Calico Day Dress Wrapper Dress
Dating from the 1890\'s or early 1900\'s a lady\'s morning dress wrapper or robe. A mixed pattern calico with a black with white dot color background and a scroll design of light-blue-gray and white dot. A great style with a fitted back and loose front. Belt tabs with hook & eye (missing the eye) closure fit the dress in the front and give decoration to the back. Bodice of wrapper is made with a ruffle trimmed with black velvet ribbon. Ribbon also trims the collar, edge of cuffs as well as a wide ruffle at the bottom of the skirt. The dress is fitted with an inside bodice with buttons to close. Hook and eye at the collar to fasten and one at the ruffle edge but no other fastenings on the remainder of the garment opening. Long sleeves with buttons on the cuff. Condition: For the age, nice. However, a long ago patch on the elbow. (see photo). A tiny bit of soiling / oxidation. A few small holes in the fabric of the skirt. All measure no larger than a pencil eraser tip. The fabric is very sturdy so possibly the fabric was caught causing the holes, as all but one in the same area. The lining fabric inside does have a tear on either side near the underarm. This could be mended. Measurements: 55-1/2\" long from neckline to hem. 11\" across from shoulder to shoulder. 28\" bust. Please contact me if more information is needed.
