Antique 18th C. Miniature Portrait Heillmann "domestic Amusement" Spinning Wool:
Miniature portrait, watercolor on wafer. Likely 18th c and based on a portrait called 'Domestic Amusement, The Lovely Spinner" engraved after a painting by Johannes Heillmann in the first half of 18th c, of Princess Maria Christina, who enjoyed spinning wool and occupying herself with domestic tasks like sewing and needlepoint. . The frame is early to mid 20th c and not original to the piece which I suspect might have been damaged in the past and so moved to this frame. Unsure if it is signed or not, I have not removed from frame. The overall measurement is 7 1/8" tall X 6 1/8" wide and miniature is about 3.75" X 2.75" area showing. I guarantee this to be an authentic original work and not a print. Please view last 2 reference images of engraving made of this work, or which was inspiration for this work (not included in sale.).
