Antique 1910s Meyle & Mayer Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Citrine Pendant Necklace
This sale is for a beautifully designed and made, sterling and natural Citrine pendant necklace, that was made by Meyle & Mayer during the 1910's.This necklace is stamped at the very bottom of the pendant "935" for silver content and a maker stamp of a dragonfly which is for Meyle & Mayer. The necklace is sterling with stones that have been verified by a certified gemologist to be natural Citrine. This piece measures 14 3/8" long (just shy of 14 1/2") with the pendant dropping another 2 3/8" below that and is 7/8" wide at its widest point. The necklace closes securely with its original spring ring clasp. The natural Citrine stones are a lovely matched color, they are in tear drop shapes with faceting on all sides, and they dangle freely so there is a lot of refraction and sparkle when worn. It appears that originally there were two more smaller dangling pendants (one on either side of the chain) as there are two tiny little loops still on the chain but this is noticeable only on close inspection and not missed as the piece is worn. The stones have a lot of clarity (particularly the central pendant) with just a tiny noticeable fissure in one of the smaller stones. The central stone is 1 1/4" long x 3/4" wide at its widest point and 3/8" thick so the pendant has a lot of depth in color and sparkle. The stone has a delicate but pretty setting with a floral and leaf pattern that is accented with tiny marcasites so the piece is striking when worn and has a nice size but is still a more delicate and romantic piece. There are no chips or surface wear to the stones, the surfaces are smooth, and the faceting is fresh and crisp. The sterling setting is both delicate and sturdy showing no signs of solder or repair and has a nice patina that shows off all the design detail. Overall this is a beautifully designed and made, sterling and natural Citrine pendant necklace, that was made by Meyle & Mayer during the 1910's that is in Very good condition. Overall this is a vibrant and striking, Art Deco glass and enamel necklace, that was made in Czechoslovakia during the 1930's that is in very good condition.
