Vintage 1920 \"Bilger for Mayor\"Oakland, CA Campaign Token
An extremely scarce vintage political campaign token for the position of Mayor of Oakland, California. This lightweight metal (likely aluminum) token measures 1.5\" in diameter.
The token has raised text that reads \"Progress, Economy, Prosperity / The Key to Oakland / Bil--- for Mayer\" on one side. The opposite side reads \"Open the Door for the People / Bil--- Leads the Way / Half Million Population 1920.\"
The token is in fair condition for its age - showing noticeable wear from circulation, handling, and age. The token has some light dents and dings to the outer rim. There is also some discoloration & a darkened patina to the metal. Also, the last 3 letters of Bilger\'s name have been scratched/rubbed off of each side of the coin...causing it to read \"Bil\" instead of \"Bilger\" on each side. It looks like this was done many, many years ago (likely around the time the token was made).
Due to the rubbed off last letters of Bilger\'s name, the token is being sold AS IS and AS SEEN in the photos.
