A very fineantique 19th CenturyChinese bamboo brush pot, carved with the eighteen Arhats. Carving is very exquisite, would be a nice collection.

Bamboocarving is a kind ofuniqueChineseart.During the Ming and Qing Dynasty, the growingprosperity ofChinaenhancedbamboo craft. In the Jiangnan region abounds in bamboo carving, appeared inShanghai Jiading and Jiangsu Jinling factions. Bamboo carving artist of the twosides both from the bamboo root carved sculpture character, and the bamboobrush pot, fan ribs engraved, some good use of different strains of skin andskin texture to create \"evergreen\" art of special effects. Jinlingfaction led by Pu Zhongqian, the bamboo carving style became gradually simpleand fine. Jiading bamboo carving had a greater impact, best at painting.
