We are listing today for your consideration a lovely Antique 19th Century Stoneware Saltglazed Cobalt Blue Flower Decorated Cake Crock with Decorated Lid. The cake crock is in Great Condition with a hairline crack that extends across the whole base and goes up the one side about 2". The hairline extends on the inside on the bottomandup the side about 1/2". It has been secured and the crock is guaranteed 100% secure, it rings true when you tap it. The crock has 4 very small shallow chips on the rim of the mouth & 1 larger shallow chip, the size of a thumbprint on the rim of the mouth, a few chips to each of the handles and there is some manufactured roughness and staining. The crock lid is in Excellent Condition with some chipping to the inner raised ring on the inside of the lid. There is some manufactured roughness and staining to the top of the lid. We guarantee 100% you will be more than happy with the condition of both pieces. The crock measures 6 1/4" tall x 11 3/4" wide x 9 7/8" at the mouth x 10 1/8" at the base and weighs approximately 7lb 11oz. The lid measures 10 3/4" in diameter x 2 1/2" the diameter of the lid handle x 8 1/8" at the diameter of the inner raised ring and weighs approximately 3lb 12oz. The cake crock has a wonderful drooping leaf and flower design that borders the entire crock & blue at each handle. The lid has a wonderful cobalt blue leaf design numbering 3. We believe both pieces are Richard Remmey of Philadelphia PA dating from the mid to late 1800's. We cannot be sure whether the lid is original to the crock or a marriage but fits great.
