Antique 25" Bisque Doll Heinrich Handwerck Simon & Halbig #4 1/2 with Composition Body. The back of her head is incised Heinrich Handwerck Simon & Halbig with a large number 4 1/2 near the neck line - check my last photo. The compo body is fine with no missing parts but 2 fingers have damage. The bisque head has the original sleeper sleepy eyes and hair, the bisque has no chips or cracks and the bisque head is guaranteed essentially perfect. The doll does have 1 probably original sock and shoe on 1 foot, that is the only clothes found with this great doll. A wonderful classic antique bisque head doll from a famous maker ready for your restoration project; guaranteed genuine antique as described.Please check my 7 photos of this magnificent beautiful doll.
Heinrich Handwerck Dolls 1876-1932Heinrich and Minna Handwerck dolls were produced in Gotha near Waltershausen, Thuringia, Germany beginning in 1876 until they were purchased by Kammer & Reinhardt in 1902.K & R continued to produce the Handwerck molds until at least 1932, between that time period they added "oHG" to the marking.Handwerck's bisque doll heads were designed by Handwerck, but produced by Simon & Halbig and are of high quality and fine workmanship which continued under the K & R ownership.Heinrich Handwerck is probably best known for their Bébé dolly faced bisque head child dolls and babies, kid or composition jointed bodies, they also produced some celluloid dolls, tooSimon & Halbig was founded in 1839, they began making dolls from 1869 to 1920 in their two porcelain factories in Gräfenhain and Hidburghausen, near Thuringia, Germany. In 1920 S & H was bought by Kämmer & Reinhardt, who continued to produce dolls until 1932. Sometime after the factory became known as Keramisches Werk Gräfenhain. Simon & Halbig is known for the fine bisque doll heads and innovation in the doll industry, they also supplied doll heads to many other well known doll manufacturers.
