Antique American 18th Century Iron Revolutionary War Spontoon Pike Weapon NR

Description:

Antique 18th Century Revolutionary War Spontoon Pike

Great example of a Revolutionary War pike. Used by "Pikemen" and infantry personnel, the forged iron blade of the piece would have been fitted on a long wooden pole and used against oncoming enemies. The soldier armed with a pike would often anchor the end of the wooden staff into the ground and allow the oncoming rushes to opponents to impail themselves on the blade.

As you can see this is a typical design of an American pike, nice style of the blade.
