An antiqueAnglo Indian carved cedarcigar or jewellery box, dating to the early 20th century circa 1900 - 1920.
The rectangular box, whichhas a lightly domed top, has beennicely carved to all sides :Each edge with ascrolling foliate design within arectangular cartouche andthe lid with a large central 'wheel of life' and 4 corner floral wheels within a foliate scroll design.
The lid hinges open to revealtwin compartments (the divider can be removed).
Please note that the lid looks a lighter colour, but this is due to many, manyyears of ingrained dust, etc, within theintricate carving and will clean up with abit ofeffort (I've onlygone overthe top with a brush).
Condition is very good, with no damage, good hinges, and light marking commensurate with age.
Thebox measures approx 8" x 4 3/4" and stands approx 2 3/4" high (20.3cm x 12.2cm x 7cm)., and is quite heavy at around 650g unpacked.
