This is a beautiful antique Art Deco period fully hallmarked for 1914 sterling silver Scottish agate brooch.I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found.
The lovely stones are classic red/orange jaspers from the Campsie Fells in Stirlingshire grey banded Montrose agate and green Isle of Rum bloodstones.
The brooch a full set of hallmarks with makers J.C.&S, the anchor for Birmingham assay office, the lion for sterling silver and date letter p for 1914. The length is 3.0 cm ( One and a fifth inches ) and the pin and C clasp are in good working condition and original.
