Fun but elegant sauce boat or bowl made by William MankerCeramics in the 1940s. The graceful shapeis given a playful twist with the large scallops in the rim and the exaggeratedspout. The lemony yellow color is givenadded interest with a contrasting blue-grey over-glaze that serves to balancethe overall exuberance of the piece.

The piece measures approximately 8 1/2” long, 4 13/16” wide,and 5 3/16” tall at the highest point. Itis in good condition for its age. Theglaze shows overall crazing, there is a small amount of discoloration in thecrazing on the inside surface of the bowl.There is a faint hairline at the base of the spout that extends about 1¼” down from the rim.

The glaze has flowed down over the foot and has been grounddown to be perfectly smooth and level.This is a common trait seen in William Manker ceramics. It is ink marked on the bottom “WilliamManker” along with the charming tulip that was used by the pottery from 1932until the late 1940s or early 50s. Themark is very clear and perfectly legible.
