Antique Art Nouveau

Rolled Gold Collier, Necklace,

c1900, 5.8 g

Exquisite and very elegant collier i.e. necklace or choker,

probably dating from approximately 1900.

The central ornament has an elongated diamond shape, with three tiny dangling

triangles attached to the corners and two larger ones linked above.

The centre is decorated with filigree scrollwork and a stylized flower set with a

small gemstone of a soft raspberry pink colour – possibly a garnet or ruby (?)

Two delicate looped chains are attached to each side,

accentuating the beautiful design.

The neck chain is fine, with individually soldered links and a

simple “slide” function clasp, which closes securely.

Excellently crafted and very detailed work – it would be a wonderful gift and

certainly a very fine addition to an antique collection!

Size of pendant: 4.7 x 4 cm.

The gemstone measures 0.5 x 0.3 cm.

Length of chain (including pendant): 36.5 cm.

This is quite close fitting, but could be extended by a jeweller if necessary.

Composition: rolled rose gold i.e. gold plated

Weight: 5.8 g

Condition: this is in very good condition, with only

the slightest signs of use, commensurate with age.

Two small “repair” links in the chain, which

would be unnoticeable when the collier is worn.

No gold loss.

Some very faint surface scratches, but no damage, dents or dings.

It has been gently polished with a soft cloth and retains its lovely patina.
