Antique Authentic 1925 Miss America Pageant Swim Suits Photo Collage In Frame For Sale
This is an authentic antique 1925 swim suits photo collage of the Miss America pageant contestants in its original creative frame. The winner that year was Faye Lamphier, Miss California. After doing research on the Internet, I found that Edward L Bader was mayor of Atlantic City from 1920 to 1927, when he died. He was the founder of the Miss America pageant in 1921. I can't be sure who actually created this, the contestant, a friend or a relative. The contestant, Mona Emma Soltis, Miss Westchester, has a tiny little rhinestone glued right over her head, just like the ones glued onto the front of the frame (please see photo). The person who put this together glued part of Mayor Bader's business card, or possibly letterhead on the front of the photo. But it doesn't cover up any of the contestants. The photo itself is wrinkled a lot, but the faces are fairly clear, as it's still a pretty good photo. The back of this was partially torn open when I purchased it, but I opened it a little more so I could see whether this was a full program. But it's not. It looks like the person took the top of the brochure and glued the photo on the bottom, creating a collage. I reattached it all with frame staples. The frame itself measures 9 inches x 11 inches (22.9 cm x 28 cm). The photo measures 8 inches x 5 3/4 inches (20.3 cm x 14.6 cm).The entire piece weighs 1 lb. 1 oz. (484 g).This feels like a very special piece of the Miss America pageant history.
