Antique B&h? Kerosene Oil Lamp Dated 1870 Rare Lomax Font, A Real Beauty:
Antique Oil Lamp Dated Rare Lomax Font,A Real Beauty! Much nicer than your average composite oil lamp offered for sale. It is likely a B&H, Bradley and Hubbard lamp.
The painted nice pleasing flower design on the glass stem seems to me is apple blossoms.
Condition is Very good to excellent. It will be Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
The Lomax font is embossed “ Patd Date Sep 20, 1870 Oil Guard Lamp”. It is the diamond and stars pattern and a close variation of it is pictured in the Bradley and Hubbard 1883-1884 catalog on page 117. The double step iron base also is shown on several pages in that same catalog.
The lamp is 11-5/8” tall to top of the brass collar, about 13” to top of the desirable antique E. Miller #2 prong burner (and old wick included too). No chimney included as it would add considerably to shipping cost. Last picture shows the lamp with a chimney just for illustration purposes. If you need a new #2 chimney to be included, we can arrange it for additional cost.
The font is in excellent undamaged condition, no chips or cracks. The brass and other parts are also in very good undamaged antique condition. Although I did not find this exact lamp in my B&H catalogs, the various parts and the floral design certainly point to it being a B&H lamp. B&H was well known to mix and match components.
Please review the numerous pictures I have included so you can see what you are getting. I always like to provide many pictures of my items as they are a most important part of the description. Thanks!
