Antique Bavarian Silver Filigree RosaryGeneral Description
Offered for sale is a bavarian silver filigree rosary from my rosary collection.This style became popular during the biedermeier era(1815-1848) and continued into the beginning of the 20th century.This particular piece was likely produced in the later part of the 19th century and was produced in quantity.The item shows signs of wear commensurate with age and use. Several repairs were done to the main cross. The paternoster beads show minor rust.The last picture shows a rosary of similiar style and age in a museum exhibit catalog.
Details- The \"avemaria\" beads are made of handcut black/jet colored glass.
- The original hemp string had deteriorated. The rosary was restrung.
- On the reverse side of the main cross, the enamel cross was missing, common to these type of rosaries. A silver replacement crucifix was put in place
