BLACK FOREST CUCKOO CLOCK- EARLY 1900's- Very Large
An antique, fully restored Black Forest cuckoo clock, probably
from the early 1900's.
This Gorgeous Cuckoo Clock has beautiful handmade carvings, very
detailed with real thick and solid wood, in an amazing brown color beauty.
The clock follows the theme of the famous Aesop's
Fables “The Fox & the
Grapes”
The face trim is adorned
with grape reliefs, grape vines and leafs on each side. In the bottom centre
there is a large platform with linear carving with a large fox looking up.
Large grape leafs decorate the very buttom centre
The top crest follows the same motif with grape reliefs, leafs and
branches with a large bird (looks like a crow) at very centre. This bird has
open wings, looking down to the grapes, in a movement to eat them.
The dial has a diameter of 12 cm. The hands are made of bone.
The movement has been fully serviced. The clock will strike and
cuckoo will come out the perch, opening the beak, bow every thirty minutes and
at the hour. The sound of the gong is full and the cuckoo bird sounds well.
I collect cuckoo clock from many years and I can tell you that
this clock is always a great find
