Sets of drawing instruments were often presented to aspiring draughtsmen and architects on graduation. These sets remained a treasured item for their owners and therefore were often kept in excellent condition for many years. .

This sale is for an set of instruments manufactured in France, probably in the late 19th/early 20th Century. The silk lid lining is marked 'Compas Superieurs, Brevetes SGDG' - the' without Government guarantee' mark introduced in 1844.

This is a quality set of small size drawing instruments in a mahogany case.The set includes avariety of compasses, and dividers. There are three white handled pens which are not named (2 in the lower compartment). The instruments are in a purple velvet lined tray. The under tray compartment only contains two mapping pens, an extension, a niband a spanner.All items are in very good condition for their age. The lid compartment houses a brass protractor. The instruments are housed in a mahogany box measuring 8.25" by 4.5" by 2", which has a lock but no key.The box is in excellent order. The lid velvet and velvet tray lining are alsoin very good condition, .
