Charles Baker of 244 High Holborn London folding field microscope circa late 19th century. This was the successor to the Moginie style microscope. The microscope is brass with an enamelled base, stage and outer casing of the tube.The microscope has a rack and pinion coarse focus and a fine focus operated by the brass dial which extends from the base just above the coarse focus.

The microscope has a twin nosepeice and there are two eyepieces: 2x magnification and 3x magnification.The condenser, unfortunately,is notcomplete. The coarse and fine focus move smoothly, the tube extends freely and the eyepieces deliver clear images; essentially everything operates as it should. There are no objectives with this microscope but the thread is R.M.S.

Cosmetically the microscope is in decent shape, the mirror, unfortunately, has a crack but this does not detract from it's useability and would be a simple fix.

When fully extended the microscope stands just short of 14", the leather box measures 3 & 1/2 " wide, 3" tall and 10 & 1/2 long.
