Antique Brass Egg Thimble Case w/ Egyptian Symbols
Austrian * Circa 1890
This petite brass thimble case is egg shaped and is unusual in the design it's embossed with. They usually have floral designs but this one is covered with Egyptian symbols. It is fitted inside with the original velvet and holds a brass thimble. The thimble is in great condition with no holes or damage. It is about an American size 7 (14.5 mm diameter opening).
The case is also in excellent condition with no damage. It has a strong hinge and measures almost 1 1/2" long x 1" wide. These were widely sold in England but I have seen evidence that they were made in Austria & Germany for export.
