Simply Beautiful!! Of the Period, Antique Bronze Sculpture Statue, by French Artist Charles Georges Ferville-Suan (1847-1925) titled'LaDeclaration', signedFerville Suan. Brown and Gold Patina. The casting is quite sharp and the detail shows strikingpresence. Monumental size,28 inches (70cm) tall, base is 10 inches in diameter, weight 75 lbs (35kg).
This is a very large antique French bronze of 2 young lovers, barefoot farm? boy and girl. The detailson the figures is just fantastic, the workmanship put into the bronze isabsolutely breathtaking. You can see how how well they made the bronzepiece, the body of the young man and girl is just extremely well sculpted with detailed faces, fingers and toes. The young man isholding the girls right hand while she is deep in thought. All aspects arecompletely realistic down to the wheat shafts the girl is holding in the fold of her skirt. The two are standing on aharvested wheat field. The signature is clear and on the back of the base.
"Born in Le Mans, in Sarthe, on 16 January 1847, and wa adopted by the painter Charles Suan. He lived during a certain period in Montmartre, and died in Le Mans on 11 December 1925. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Paris and was a pupil of Francois Jouffroy. He realized medaillons and statuettes, in plaster, marble or bronze. He exhibited at the Salon, as early as 1872, and until 1909, andbecame a member of the Societe de Artistes Francais."
