Up for sale today isOne set of Circa 1900 Cast Brass Door Knobs,complete with set screws andan adjustable shaft.These doorknobs are actually even older than the faceplates that are in this setand were propbably manufactured between 1890 and 1900 by Sargent and Company.All Working Partson the Doorknobs have been Cleaned,Lubricated,and are inExcellent Condition! These doorknobs aresomewhat largeand are about 21/4" in diameter with a deep,heavy girth.They have a very intricate design and are a Perfect match for these Faceplates.Speaking of which,these doorknobs come with it,s own set of Renaissance Style Faceplates,manufactured in the U.S.A. a few years laterby Lockwood and is part of the "Orleans Group".All of these pieces are unmistakingly from theVictorian period and are Very Old,manufactured in the late 19th or early 20th Centuryand to appear to have been used for a very long time,but have been well cared for through the years.The Faceplates measure8 1/4" Long by 2 1/2"Wide at there widest.They were completely cleanedof several layers of paint,years of dirt and grime and left with there own,naturalAntique Brass finish that looks as if it were a Copper washed "Japanned" Patinaand are ready for another 100 years of good use.And,although the Faceplates are worn,and they do have a Natural Beauty that can only come from time,you may find a small speck of paint here or there.Finally,there,s the dated mortise lock,manufactured in the U.S. about 20years later,complete with a working key and matching striker plate.It too has been thoroughly cleaned and oiled as needed and is in Excellent condition as well.This is a wonderful example of Antique Architectual Door Hardware and would make a wonderful addition to any Decor' where you may want a Victorian Flavour!
