Description

AntiqueCarl Thieme (Saxonian Porcelain Decorating Studio of Dresden) hand painted porcelain and enamel tray or platterin a very rarely seenpurplebackground. The decoration isof a classical urn bursting with pink roses in an extremelyelegant surround with heavy gold work. Equally lovely as a dresser tray, for food service or just for display.

SIZE: About 11\" x 8 1/4\". Slightly scalloped form.

MARKS:The blue \"SP\" decorating studio mark on base. Mark dates to around 1901. Additional mark guaranteeing hand painting in Dresden Germany.

CONDITION: Old or antique item.I see two losses on the turquoise blue enamel - one at the top of the center surround and one on the bottom border. See photos. A few other minorrubs and the like to the purple background as shown in photos. On the back, I can feel four raised areas of the porcelain, two on each side. They do not effect who the tray sits. Sells \"as is\". Please see the close up photos and judge the condition for yourself. It is not perfect, but it is extremely beautiful! SCAN DOWN FOR MANY CLOSE UP PHOTOS.
